Nargis
Doll of Poetic Blooms, Crafted by Afghan Artisans
Nargis, the doll woman embodying the poet's daffodil, radiates timeless beauty. Known as the narcissus or pheasant's eye, Nargis represents the ancient flower of poetic admiration. Her vibrant dress, made from thin muslin, boasts exquisite motifs and embroidered borders. Held by a drawstring at the neck, the dress, known as a kurta, harmonises with white loose-pleated pants called salwar, creating an elegant ensemble.
Handcrafted by Afghan women refugees, Nargis breathes life into the waste fabric, championing sustainability. She not only captures the essence of ancient charm but also supports the creators by providing a sustainable income. Nargis stands as a testament to the artistic brilliance and resilience of Afghan artisans, weaving poetry and craftsmanship into every stitch.
